WE DECIDED TO KEEP IT SEPARATE AND GIVE IT A SPECIAL TREATMENT. RESTRICTIVE PRUNING, LOW YIELDS (4000 KGR PER HECTARE), STRICT SELECTION OF OAK BARRELS. THE LIMITED NUMBER OF BOTTLES THAT ARE PRODUCED (500 – 1500) BOTTLES A YEAR, DEPEND ON THE VINTAGE DIVERSITY. IT IS SOLD ‘EN PRIMEUR’. IT IS OUR GRAND CRU.

Vinification
Cold maceration before vinification. Maceration takes place approximately 45 days. Maturation in new french oak barrels 225 lt. (Ermitage and Seguin Moreau) for 18 months.
Tasting notes
Opaque garnet colour with ruby tints and complex bouquet of black and dried fruits (prunes, figs, blackberries), spices and vanilla, constantly developing. Very full palate with aroma of ripe black fruit, jam, pepper, sweet spices, pepper ink, coffee, chocolate and tobacco. Ripe, fine-grained tannins, powerful structure and long length.
The suitable word for it is ‘Concentration’.
Aging
10 – 15 years.
Syrah
Avantis Estate, and especially Apostolos Moudrichas, do not need any recommendations! You will surely have heard that he is called the Syrah maître (and not unfairly) as he creates Syrah of unique concentration and finesse.
Avantis Estate
Avantes was the first prehistoric greek tribe that settles in Euboea, mainly around two towns – Chalkis and Eretria – in the eras between 2100 – 1900 B.C. According to a myth they were named after nymph Ava.
They were warriors and had participated in the Trojan War under the command of Helephinor, their leader. In his epic poem ‘Iliad’ Homer refers to Avantes as follows: “Brave Avantes inhabitants of Euboea coming from Chalkis, Eretria as well as grape producing Istiea and Kirinthos by the sea and even high up from Dion, Karistos and Stira, all were commanded by Helephinor, fearless in battle, strong leader of theirs. Fast, long haired warriors carrying long spears, always willing to attack and beat the enemy.
